Saderet Supplies CSI Vector for Volvo Ocean Race Entrants
The designers and builders of "ABN AMRO", an entrant in the 2005 Volvo around the world yacht race, have selected the CSI Wireless Vector Sensor system to provide her with gyro-like heading data and sub-metre position. The system is easily installed and produces heading data to an accuracy of up to a tenth of a degree, ten times per second. The 5Hz sub-metre GPS data uses the system's integral beacon and SBAS differential reception capability.
The "ABN AMRO" is the first Volvo 70 class yacht to hit the water in preparation of the Volvo Ocean Race, which starts in November 2005. It's a full six feet longer than it's predecessors in the last Volvo Ocean Race and now also has a hydraulically operated canting keel. Designer Juan Kouyoumdjian and skipper, Mike Sanderson, think it could reach speeds of up to 40 knots during the race. |
